Hi Hi Hi -- long time no see!

By all means, I second, third, fourth, fifth! I have for the last two years been maintaining that there is no such thing as "hood" used as a suffix for any language,
Englishhood, Frenchhood, Japanesehood, or Russianhood!

Now to d/D, it is felt by important deaf leaders that it is an insult. My cousin, an author for a book that teaches professors how to properly use words or grammar, considers d/D as divisive; ergo, negative! Do hearing people use h/H? Jamais de la vie! So I hope that d/D will be removed from deaf people's vocabulary in the not-too-distant future.

Exactly right! The -hood suffix means "having the characteristic of". Brotherhood: you have the characteristic of a Brother (you are a brother, or are like a brother), nationhood: you are a nation, or like a nation. ASLhood? You are ASL, or like ASL? NO! Of course not!

you want to bother deaf so I want to bother asl because asl is culture to me. For example, for the jewish felt jewish is culture to them so therefore? ASL is CULTURE! I will understand if you want to stay with deaf thing and help yourself and enjoy your thinking of deaf on the shadow. ASL is the path way out of circle such as d and D,... LOL!!! (laughing o the floor) Have fun with deaf so i get to have fun with asl,... (wink) come out!

In my opinion. Deaf explains a group the same way Christains explains a group. ASL exlains the language that is common in the deaf community the same way Spanish explains the lanuage that the spanish comuunity uses.
Therefore Deafhood would be the more reasonable term, ASLhood is a moot point. There is no point in the term.
