If CI blog do not provide information about sign language that should go to CIREAD instead DeafRead!

Deb, you made a good analogy and I agree wholeheartly what you said. I think these ASL bloggers/vloggers thought they could make a statement by "boycotting" or "going on a strike", but the end result is, it backfired on them.

As I see one commenter from "follower of dbc said", is typical refusing to see the bigger picture.

Competition is everywhere.

So, instead of fighting, they should join in force and do more ASL blogs and vlogs and the end results will be more visible ASL community within DR!

One sad thing about all this is clear bias towards CI. That is the part I don't understand. WE who have been subjected to bias are doing the same thing to another sub-category of deaf people.

If there's CI read then I guess there needs to be HOH read and maybe Cued Read and so on...it's getting ridiculous.

"Anonymous" and "follower of dbc", be sure to read this post. Soon you'll be able to choose which blogs you want to see and not see on DeafRead.

Maybe its time to show more real respect to the Deaf ASL vloggers who have been "saving" DeafRead and LISTEN deeply to what they are thinking, feeling, and saying (or not saying).....

Also, time for us to FACE that darn elephant in the Deaf room which is also taking over DeafRead...

Better that...and that's more right...than criticizing and blaming on the hard-working, courageous Deaf ASL vloggers if they make a political statement or are busy building the groundswell....

For me personally, I have been busy travelling, presenting, planning the Deaf Bilingual Coalition Conference in Milwaukee, working on the huge revision of Signing Naturally curriculum (to elevate ASL teaching and increase respect for ASL), and promoting the "whole system thinking" training for California Association of the Deaf.

Frankly, yes I am discouraged with and feeling unsafe on DeafRead lately and that has resulted in my not feeling inspired to present ideas as I did before on DeafRead.

I find it interesting that DeafRead is insisting on neutrality and thus exposing itself to the disease that has befallen many other Deaf organizations and forcing them to be passive and meek in terms of facing the elephant eye to eye and pushing it out of our "room" so we can finally reclaim our rightful home.

Sure, I welcome all healthy dialogue and naturally I prefer those that focus on possibilities and cherishing our history of resistance against ORalism/audism, and celebrating ASL and positive Deaf identity. I also prefer those that do not exhibit audism or internalized audism (at least consciously), and I say again, yes, DeafRead DO have the right to do whatever they want..and that includes banning intentional audism.

I am waiting for that day where we see MANY Deaf people (and hearing allies) take courage and do that.

I don't really mind cued users and CI users as long as they respect us. I learn from them. I don't mind CI/ASL users, but I really wanted to kick Rachel's blog out of the deafread.

It drives me crazy that Tayler and DeafRead does not understand what deaf-centric means. They claim to be a deaf-centric site which is a big joke to us. I can understand they want to be inclusive and allow all kinds of deaf people to make blogs and vlogs, but they still can't say they are deaf-centric. Linguistics people and other academic people will know what the deaf-centric really means. Deaf-centric does not support pathological views focusing on ears. Deafread is mispresenting themselves.

Candy, we do not need CIRead, HOHRead, and so on. We need a medical section of DeafRead. Blogs that focus on deafness rather than deafhood should go there.

ASL Music, we need to find a new home. Tayler and editors are letting Deafread die. ASL vloggers are not motivated to do vlogs. On the front page, you have to look for ASL vlogs. Deafread starts to categorize spoke videos by CI people as vlogs. When we click vlogs, we don't always get ASL vlogs. We get spoken videos or videos with subtitles. Oh, please! Deafread needs to clean up their acts.

True... I remembered at the beginning of deafread last year, it was so awesome and felt like Im at home when reading/watching Deaf blogs/vlogs... Now I feel like I am in Alien World after many agruements over CI, Oral, opressing ASL and many more.. We ought to stand up and push those aside and continue with DEAF topics, that was the purpose for it at the first place! If those people (CI, Oral, etc..) want to add blogs or vlogs about this, they could set up new site CIREAD just like the "follower of dbc" mentioned.

I thought Deafhood means include C.I. too. Apparently not.

hmm confusing eh?

I agree BUT why are DeafRead bloggers/vloggers not submiting their blogs/vlogs like they used to? Because people with CI are taking over now? Well, they should continue blogging/vlogging, no matter what! Don't roll over and die. =0
