THANK GOD your dog is doing okay and will heal quickly! Do you have the big piece of hardened glue to show us...it will definitely make an impact and wake some of us up to put away or lock up stuff, away from our animals and children. I will add a link for others to look it up and read other stories that ASLMUSIC just experienced. Let your dog recovery quickly and nicely! Hugs to your dog and you too for thinking fast! Smiles!

Here it is, the link to website about gorilla glue, you'll see some pictures of what glue looks like after it has expanded in a dog's stomach, unbelievable!
http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf001136.tip.html
So, after you watch this vlog and read other stories, you're gonna want to put them away where animals or children cannot reach.
Thanks ASLMUSIC for sharing this with us!!

Aww..glad to hear your puppy is doing ok. I've never heard of gorilla glue. I have several pets and it's good to be aware of this. I hope your puppy have a speedy recovery.

Wow, that was scary! Thanks to your quick response to the situation, the puppy is alive today. :) Give your precious furbaby a lot of hugs and kisses!

As a fur mommy to two cats, two dogs, and two ferrets, thanks for the warning! It is much appreciated.

Do you mind if I share your vlog with my good friend? She is very involved in animal rescue, saving both deaf and hearing animals. I am sure she will really appreciate hearing about this.

Deafwoman - Thanks so much for the website, very usable! :-) WOW!!

C - I was hoping this would have gone in front of deafread so this could be good awareness for others to know. Thanks for your comment.

Mish - OF COURSE - you can share or anyone to share anything with my VLOG, especially this one, Sure thing!!

Hugs to you all....
08/31/07 - Dakota (my puppy) is doing better every day, she wants to play today!! She'll be OK! With all those medications she has, sigh.

I am SOOO glad Dakota is okay!!! Wow...

I have heard of gorilla glue and I almost bought it. Glad I didn't since I have 5 cats living in my house.

Thanks for let us know the 3 top warnings especially advil pills. Sometimes I dropped it on floor. I have to be careful with it.

Hugs, L, from Rochester, NY

Great, I already shared your vlog with my friend. She really appreciated the heads up and is very glad your puppy is okay!

Glad to hear Dakota is doing very well. Whew! :)

Yes, I thought your vlog should be brought up to front on DR. But then there were other blogs/vlogs that also should be on front but never made it. Some blogs/vlogs were not relative to deafness made it to front. I do not quite get their approval process, I must have missed something?

Anyway...hugs to Dakota.

Oh my goodness! How scary! We all share your concern and will pray your puppy heals. I can just imagine how yucky he felt. Sigh.

Take care.

I am so relieved the puppy is alright. Being an animal lover who have rescued and found homes for many animals, this is the first time I learned about Gorilla Glue.
I do appreciate you sharing with us all, the Deaf community.

Here is a tip about the Sorenson: next time, instead of waiting, go to the next VRS through Hamilton, Sprint, CSD and a few others. You can add it on your phone list on Sorenson box. Having these would be lifesaving if Sorenson doesn't respond immediately.

Finally but not the least, it's not only Gorilla glue but many other products we need to put away that we normally don't feel safe around children will NOT be safe around animals too. Thanks again!

Next time, you are waiting for SorensonVRS, SWITCH to another provider -- HOVRS.TV and they are the best!

Glad to see your puppy Dakota safe!

Whew. Funny part about puppy happily licking the glue puddle while you're in panic. I assume glue would dissolve in stomach acid. Gonna be a big bite in ur wallet. Puppy proof ur house, ha.

B.A.D., what a scary experience. Thank goodness you took the puppy to the vet for ER treatment and that he is ok. Whew.

Let's hope that the puppy doesn't develop a habit of wolfing down non edible items for rest of his life, like my dog Mishka does. I've taken her to ER few times, even requiring an emergency surgery.

Mike, it depends on the chemical make up of the glue, but I think it'll take more than mild acid to break up the glue.

CSDVRS is Awesome! Try it at CSDVRS.TV with a new technology. HOVRS is okay.

Lot of people don't think quick like you did so their pets die. I am happy to hear that your puppy is doing good. Great feeling to know that you have many supports from the community such as VRS, friends, etc. Your puppy is blessed to have you as his (her?) mother.

P.S. Check your email.

Thanks for sharing your interesting and informative story about your dog. I am glad that your dog is ok now. Yes, I am aware about Sorenson VRS. I have been frustrated with it and using other VRSs such as HOVRS, AT&T, etc is a lifesaver. Ask your friends how to add them on your list. Take care and keep your eyes on your dogs

Bug - I don't have anything in my e-mail??

I want to thank you very much for all your words and support.

Let me explain one thing - I had the Gorilla Glue in my computer/office for 2-3 months, it was on a shelf, and OUT of the blue she decides to take it Tuesday night - after 2-3 months being there! UH!!! She is OK. Slowly improving to be herself. She is still a wonderful dog.

For those that have told me to use other servers. Please - provide their phone numbers CDVRS/HORVS/Sprint, etc....I don't have their number and I WILL SURELY put in my VP as soon as I get them!

Come back here in a week, and I will post how Dakota is doing. My other Border Collie, Zena who is 9 years old is watching her....:-)

Is that puppy Dakota breed border collie?
I know how you feel being scary. Same thing with me for three dogs included one mixed lab and two dachshunds. Like your own children!

I am glad that you catched Dakota on a right time, now put the dangerous toxic things away!
Be alert!

Jac -

Yes she is a Border Collie (Blue Merle) 9 months. Along with my other Border Collie who is 9 years old (BLACK & WHITE).

That was the ONLY thing laying around that should not be around

I'm glad to hear your puppy is doing ok! You've probably taught many of us something. Really, never heard of gorilla glue. Same thing applies to anti-freeze. It's sweet too and animals will lick it. It can be fatal for them.

I agree with another blogger, I find that sometimes some relay is short staffed at times thus, hard to get through. Without being loyal to ONE relay service, I put them all on my VP speed dial and give them all equal chances and if one is busy, I go to the next one. Nice to have more than one relay available.

Video Relay Interpreter position is in high demand, there's more need for them which probably explains why certain relay are short staffed certain times.

Yikes ... I am glad to hear that Dakota is well. I can understand it is very scary -- especially communicating with the vet .. nice of your hearing friend who can intepret for you. I've worked at the Vet 24/7 for 7 years. I have seen so much - some were freak accidents etc -- happy and sad recoveries . I am very happy that your pup is doing okay! There was an hearing signer intern at my work .. but she finishes her intern in June after a year stay. A several Deaf consumers come to my place which is cool. I can help them out etc etc. I never knew about that Gorilla Glue thingie .. will look up later on. You are such a great mom!

WHOOOO HOOOO!! You put pictures of your babies in your blog! Such sweet darlings, they are beautiful border collies! Thank God for your friend/terp who helped you out!
It is frustrating with VRS, the waiting can drive us crazy...when waiting too long, I switched to another VRS, but it's not as crisp clear as SVRS, sighs...someday someday, hopefully soon, will improve on other VRS centers.
Keep us posted on how Dakota is doing! Thanks for showing us your babies! :-)

Be sure your pup is lick-able! I love dog kisses. lol I am thrilled for you.

B.A.D. said...

Squ65 -

She's VERY lickable!! Has different lickables.
When she is happy, she licks away, when she wants to give me love, she licks so ever gentle, when she is hyper she licks fast. She is very lickable alright!! :-) When I don't feel good, she slowly comes up and licks me little by little ever gentle, her expression is UNbelievable!!! :-) (Just like my Zena).

I knew what Gorilla Glue was, but I didn't know that dogs like the taste of that! 258! Will keep tabs on that with friends who have puppies or dogs!

Pet E.R. is not funny. My roommate and I had to take our puppy to the Pet E.R. It's important to make sure the puppy is okay, but damn the E.R. bill! I think people should seriously consider Pet Insurance because it would cover a huge chunk of the E.R. costs.

I'm glad your puppy will be okay!!

Amazing ... puzzled... left glue on floor? suppose it was a crawling baby instead of puppy...
Never leave anything on floor or table that baby or puppy can reach.
you better learn about toxic stuff that are dangerous to animals. many plants even chocolate are dangerous to dogs...

To deafmutearthur:

Like I said in my comment, I left it there for 2-3 months, and it was on a standing shelf...yes I know I should not have it where it is reachable. My BIG mistake.
Its like a parent who watches their kid(s) all day long, then happened to pick up a piece of paper to throw in the garbage, the kid falls, why wasn't the parent watching??? I had turned my head for a few minutes, while she was playing in the computer room. Believe me - I've truly learned my lesson :-)
